Haywood Community College, Creative Arts Building – Clyde, NC (2010-2013)

•    Civil Engineering design and construction administration of a 41,000 square foot education lab building with a construction cost of $9,193,000.

•    Existing site was a heavily wooded south-facing hill with proposed architectural design requiring solar access and daylighting opportunities with natural ventilation and the retention of as many existing trees as possible.

•    Included design for a roof rainwater capture system for flushing and irrigation reuse and a deck overlooking the stormwater sand filter treatment area feature.

•    Additional design included demolishing the existing adjacent building and parking area.

•    Deliverables included preliminary site layout options, Construction Drawings, Construction Administration and As-Built record set.

•    The Creative Arts Building is expected to be certified as the first LEED Platinum Higher-Education classroom/lab building in North Carolina.
